Newsletter system

Could someone write a thorough Premium Content article on a newsletter sending system using PHP. Complete with registration, duplicate entry checking and removing capabilities, newsletter sending to the registered users, newsletter archives (easy to tie with site news, for example). Ideal would be such a system that when I make a new story for the sites news section, I have a checkbox in the insert form that tells the server whether to send that news item to the registered users or is it just an ordinary news bullet. I can do that form myself, but this gives the idea, that the "newsletter system" should use articles from one table and users from another.
