Overstretching Images

There is no "maximum image size" setting so some images get stretched beyond their actual pixel dimensions to the galley dimensions. Quality suffers.

I can get around this by squeezing the gallery down, but is there a way to prevent the stretching of images?

No currently images gets all the available size - if you don't want this make sure they are always bigger than the gallery viewer size.

Will see if we could add an option that images aren't always streched to fit the viewer size but only shrinked when they are bigger or otherwise stay 100%

In the latest version 2.01 you can switch off the option "Fit Image" in the property inspector and the images won't be stretched any more

Hi,

Why is it when I select the Left placement for my nav bar, the images get stretched into tall rectangles? I just want them to be their normal proportions. Help!

Thanks,

Hi George,

Actually, I tried switching of the "Image Fit" but the images still show up as tall rectangles when I'm using a left nav bar. Is there something else I need to do?

Hi George,

Here's the url. www.girishmusic.com/rpowell/gallery.htm

There are two issues I'm having:
1. How do I get the thumbnails on the left nav to include the entire image.
2. Why won't the background become transparent, even though I'm following the instructions? (I can't even select ANY background color but white, it seems, once the album has been created.

OK, I just figured out the transparency thing, so I'm set there. But, I'm still wondering:

1. How do I make the thumbnails show the whole image?
2. How do I remove/alter the text?

Thanks,
Glenn

For the titles the folowwing faq: www.dmxzone.com/go?11637

about the thumbnails - currently those are made square by cropping them during the resize.
This is done because we asume that most thumbnails get square.

maybe we should change that in the future ...

Well as the thumbnails fit the space available, make sure by adjusting the space of the image scale(%) and the rows and cols that they become more square.

Folks

I'm having the exact same problem and pulling my hair out looking for a fix...<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Quite simply I want to re-create in FAG2 what I was able to do in FAG1 - namely a left to right navigation alongside main image where thumbnails were neither stretched nor quality blurred. How can I re-create the following URL in FAG2 as it seems impossible - www.barrymagee.com/glendalough.html. Instead, all I can get is the following : www.barrymagee.com/apartment.html.

Image Fit is turned OFF - tried this as per some other posts but it makes no difference.

<b>George</b> - would love to see this fixed as the only reason I bought Dynamic FAG was to edit such galleries and I can't do this without FAG2 which won't allow me keep the style/layout I have already developed and built a lot of galleries with and I don't want to re-design look and feel of entire site from scratch. See barrymagee.com for what I mean....cheers

If you change the imageFit option it updates the xml, make sure you upload the new xml. Also the browser caches the xml, make sure to clear your browser cache first. If it still does not work then it must be a bug.

Hi Patrick

Have checked all your suggestions. New xml is uploaded and have cleared cache a number of times.

Do you know of any sites, extension testing where what I'm trying to achieve WAS done so I could possibly have alook and see if there's anything else we're missing?

Cheers

Hi Barry,

From your samples I see you are using only ver 1 - could you please convert to ver 2?
There is a command for this in the DW commands menu - "Convert Flash Album 1 to ver 2"

Greetings,
george

Hi George

I used v1 for my site initially but when I attempted to use v2 (convert as you suggested using the Command) I couldn't achieve same effect which is why I didn't migrate the live pages and posted the query here. After Patrick's suggestions didn't work out I figured it was a bug so re-converted the sample I'd sent him back to v1 as I wanted to post it live.

I've built a new v2 demo using exact same content and posted it for you to have a look at :

www.barrymagee.com/george_test.html

While you're looking I'd also posted a separate query asking about the left to right toggling through thumbnails which appears to have disappeared with v2 once you place thumbnails on either side of main image. Is this correct?

Really appreciate you having a look at this George. Would be extremely grateful for any assistance, expertise or insight!

Barry

Hi Barry,

Yes now I see what you mean. There is indeed a difference between ver 1 and 2. In Ver 2 the thumbnails are much more flexible and also they use all the available space. This is very nice when you want to have bigger thumbnails but in your case it doesn't work well.

The solutions to your problem are:

* you either allow more than 1 thumbnails rows (like 10)
* or you choose the thumbnails to go below the main image and there you can have one row - you do need to put the image scale to like 95% so not much space is left for the thumbnails,

also yes - in v2 there is not left ro right toggling - it is all just one way - the most natural one depending on the position of the thumbnails.

Greetings,
George

Hi George,

still don't find any answer to the "overstretched image" problem that I posted earlier in this thread. Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, as I see that Barry is pulling his hair out like I am.

I don't have FAG v1 to compare, but FAG 2.0.33 (FlashAlbum2033.mxp) is the latest that I have installed and still no joy. I have turned off the ImageFit checkbox but that doesn't change anything.

Here's a test gallery that I've uploaded. Would really appreciate if you go take a look and advise:
fag2.jumpyjump.com/gettogether/index.htm

The maximum dimension of the images should be 400x400 pixels.

thanks,
- Chi
